HEALTHY AGING

Like this pushing game, the earth's force pushes back just enough rebound our movement. Aging can cause us to resign ourselves to "inevitable" limitation. We withdraw our physical selves from the  vital process of interacting with the the Earth's forces.. This is the beginning of decline.  Re-engaging with movement is rocket fuel for the brain. You can remember how to roll, spring and bounce again! Develop neuro-plasticity, flexibility and strength.

IMPROVE AWARENESS USING MOVEMENT

The Feldenkrais Method® is an experiential practice in illuminating your body. Sensation brings you into the present. There are no thoughts, simply the ebb and flow of breath and sensations. Practice becoming aware of the intention, the motor plan, the first glimmer of the movement, and the muscular/skeletal engagement. The movement is a vehicle that allows you to watch how you coordinate yourself so that all of you is in concert with your intention. This is a blueprint for orchestrating not only your actions, but your life.  Develop your insight, maturity, wisdom.

POSTURE, BALANCE & COORDINATION

Posture is not a position. It is the act of self-organization. How you harness the support that is available is the difference between grace and awkwardness. Feldenkrais Lessons® familiarize you with the simple codes of physics so you can hone how you harness support, and improve your orientation and balance. Your everyday movement will begin to change. You will catch your fall, you see what’s coming, you'll do things easier.  Experiencing movement as nourishing and gratifying instead of like clogged flailing  becomes your preference. You possess agility, economy, and most of all, instinct for further improvement.
 'At 79 years, improving balance is essential. Karen asks us to tune into “the movement before the movement” in lessons. There is something very powerful about giving myself space to slow down.  Instead of being afraid, I can keep paying attention to the details of my interaction with the ground. Hurrying makes me disconnected. I have developed the process of slowing down and staying with myself and my sensations. In the garden I can observe; what is the first movement I need to make to comfortably stand from here?" -BO

Breath is the key to opening doors.  Find how to coordinate movement using your breath to create appropriate support. Balance your emotional state by how you modulate breath variations. Learn to down-regulate your responses. Live life creatively.
